Restore a session in a SRDF/Metro Smart DR environment

SRDF/Metro Smart DR is a two-region high available (HA) disaster recovery (DR) solution. It integrates SRDF/Metro and SRDF/A enabling HA DR for a Metro session.

Prerequisites

The storage system must be running PowerMaxOS 5978 Q3 2020 or later.

About this task

A Restore Metro operation makes the devices in the Metro session read/write on the SRDF link and initiates an incremental re-synchronization of data from the Metro R2 to the Metro R1. A Restore DR operation makes the devices in the DR session read/write on the SRDF link and initiates an incremental re-synchronization of data from the DR to the Metro R1.

To restore a session in a smart DR environment:

Steps

  1. Select the storage system.
  2. Click Protection to view the Protection dashboard and select SRDF/MetroDR from the High Availability section of the summary panel. Alternatively, select Data Protection > MetroDR.
  3. Select a smart DR environment, click An icon showing three dots arranged in a vertical row, signifying a menu with more options, and click DR > Restore DR or click Metro > Restore Metro.
  4. Optional: Click Advanced Options to set the advanced options. Select the advanced options and click OK.
  5. Do one of the following:
    • Click Run Now to perform the operation now.
    • Expand Run Now and click Add to Job List to add this task to the job list, from which you can schedule or run the task at your convenience. For more information, see Schedule jobs and Preview jobs.
